Waterview tunnel goes live

Wow the tunnel is open! The Waterview tunnel is an eye-opening extension to the Auckland ring. I drove through it on Sunday it opened and people were sounding their horns, as they use to do in the Victoria tunnel in Wellington, I must admit I gave a couple of happy toots myself. It’s been built in the same style as the tunnel that leads on to the Harbour Bridge from Victoria Park. You can see a lot of safety features have been built into this tunnel, lots of exits, sprinklers, signs, and cameras. The one aspect I was not sure of, was the chip on the road it seemed a bit too smooth for my liking, especially when wet. We have all waited a long time for this and it has certainly lived up to expectation. As a skip hire company in Auckland, we will save a lot of time and it will make the western areas of Auckland and the airport so accessible.  Along with the tunnel, the whole western motorway has had a complete upgrade. Is there a better motorway anywhere in the country? Happy and safe driving
